After the Divine Liturgy, on November 24, 2023, the Primate of the Autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church met with the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration Vyacheslav Chaus. This is reported by the official website of the OCU.
His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius was accompanied by Metropolitan Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar and Bishop Anthony of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, the Diocesan Bishop.
The meeting was also attended by Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Nationalities and Religions of the Chernihiv Regional Administration Liudmyla Zamai.
During the meeting, they discussed the situation in the region. Russians, who declare themselves Orthodox, regularly shoot at the northern part of the region, where about 14,000 civilians live.
The parties also discussed support for local communities, rebuilding what was destroyed by the invaders, and attracting international assistance.
The meeting was followed by a flower-laying ceremony at the memorials dedicated to the fallen soldiers who defended Ukraine.
