On August 29, 2024, on the feast of the Beheading of the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist John, Metropolitan Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Transfiguration Cathedral in Vinnytsia. His Eminence was concelebrated by the cathedral priests. During the service, a prayer was offered for the Ukrainian army and Ukraine's victory over the russian aggressor.
At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Symeon addressed the congregation with a sermon and congratulated everyone on the holiday.
After the service, on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine who died in the struggle for independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, a memorial service was held for the fallen soldiers. Metropolitan Simeon and the clergy laid lamps and flowers in front of the memorial plaques on the territory of the Transfiguration Cathedral, which bear the names of the fallen soldiers from Vinnytsia region, as well as to the Wall of Memory with photos of fellow Vinnytsia residents who died in the war, which is located on Shevchenko Square near the Cathedral.
