At the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine), which was held on March 7, 2024, in Kyiv under the chairmanship of His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine, the request of Metropolitan Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar to establish a monastery in the Vinnytsia-Bar Diocese was considered. The Synod approved it (Resolution No. 87): "To establish the religious organization Holy Ascension Monastery of the Diocese of Vinnytsia and Bar of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine) as part of the Vinnytsia and Bar Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Orthodox Church of Ukraine)." The village of Ivanivka, Vinnytsia district, located 17 km from the regional center, was chosen as the site for the monastery. The Synod appointed Archimandrite Sofronii (Chupryna), who had previously been a clergyman of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Vinnytsia, as the monastery's abbot (Decree No. 51).
