On the eve of the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, 27 August 2023, His Beatitude Metropolitan Epiphanius of Kyiv and All Ukraine led the All-Night Vigil at the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the official website of the OCU.
His Beatitude was concelebrated by Metropolitan Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar, Metropolitan John of Cherkasy and Chyhyryn, Metropolitan Nestor of Ternopil and Kremenets, Metropolitan Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva, and Archbishop Lavrentiy of Luhansk and Starobilsk, Archbishop Tikhon of Ternopil and Buchach, Bishop Theognost of Bohorodchany, Bishop Anthony of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, Bishop Ephraim of Vasylkiv, Acting Abbot of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Pechersk Lavra Archimandrite Abraham and numerous clergy. The litany was led by Metropolitan Symeon.
A special characteristic of the Dormition Vigil was the bringing of the shroud of the Mother of God decorated with flowers to the middle of the church before the polyeleos.
Tomorrow, on 28 August, at 9:00 am, the Primate of the Autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church will lead the Divine Liturgy in the main church of the Lavra, the Dormition Cathedral.
