On August 19, 2023, on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, festive services were held at the Transfiguration Cathedral of Vinnytsia. The late Divine Liturgy was led by the rector of the cathedral, Metropolitan Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar. His Eminence was concelebrated by the priests of the cathedral, as well as guests in the sacred rank. The solemnity of the service was emphasized by the singing of the cathedral choir and the children's and youth choir.
After the Liturgy and the procession around the church, the Archpastor read prayers and sprinkled holy water on the grapes and fruits that are traditionally being blessed on this day.
Metropolitan Symeon preached a sermon and congratulated his flock on the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord and the patronal feast of the Cathedral of the Vinnytsia-Bar Diocese of the OCU. Archpriest Vitaliy Goloskevych, the Cathedral's administrator, greeted the Archpastor on behalf of the clergy and parishioners. In the end, the choirs congratulated their Archpastor and all the parishioners on the patronal feast.
All the donations collected in the cathedral on this festive day, with the blessing of Metropolitan Symeon, were directed to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Part of the funds was transferred to the mission of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "On the Shield" to purchase wheels for vehicles used to evacuate fallen defenders of Ukraine for burial in their hometowns or villages.
Another part of the funds was transferred for the needs of one of the tank units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with which the Vinnytsia-Bar Diocese of the OCU keeps in touch through its priests.
